About US

Cowboy at Work

The Rodeo Team was established in 2013 at the University of Kentucky. Since then, we have given many students at UK the opportunity to learn and compete in the sport of rodeo at a collegiate level.

The University of Kentucky Rodeo Team competes in the Ozark region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). Through NIRA, our students can compete in events such as saddle bronc, bareback bronc, bull riding, barrel racing, goat tying, steer wrestling/bulldogging, tie-down roping, breakaway roping and team roping. The Ozark region is one of the biggest regions of NIRA reaching as far as Mississippi to Michigan.

Our members gain many skills while being on the team, including leadership, sportsmanship, and time management. Our team and coaches are focused on sharing our passion for the sport of rodeo and forming horsemanship skills that will improve performance.

Rodeo, for many of our team members, is an outlet where they can escape the stress of classes, personal experiences, and other aspects of life. We have students from all corners of the United States with different backgrounds and disciplines. Our rodeo family here at UK is continuously growing and is dedicated to taking our team to the next level.
